Restaurants & cafés in Naxos, from our neighbourhood to the mountain villages
A practical shortlist for breakfast, coffee, traditional Greek food, seafood, dessert, sunset drinks and destination meals, with many of our Chora choices only a few minutes from Pasas Castle on foot.
Start in Chora and choose by the moment
One of the advantages of staying at Pasas Castle is that you do not need a car for a good meal. The centre, Old Town, waterfront and Agios Georgios are all within walking distance, so breakfast, dinner, dessert or a late drink can become part of an evening walk rather than another journey across the island.
For a fuller food experience, use one of your island days to eat outside Chora. Restaurants on the road to Kastraki or in the mountain interior pair naturally with beaches and village routes, and they allow you to connect Naxian food with the agricultural landscape that produces many of the island’s ingredients.
Where to eat, drink and take your time
Opening hours and menus can change during the season. For dinner in July and August, especially at popular or small venues, check the same day and reserve when possible.
520 Premium
520 Premium is located in the Old Town of Naxos and combines a restaurant with a wine-bar and late-evening atmosphere. Its menu draws on Greek and Mediterranean cooking, with an emphasis on domestic products, Greek herbs and spices, and contemporary interpretations of familiar flavours.
It is especially useful when you want the evening to continue naturally after dinner, because the setting works equally well for a meal, wine or a later drink without moving to another part of town.
Walk toward the Old Town and combine the meal with the narrow streets around Kastro and the harbour. There is no reason to drive from Pasas Castle, and the area is much more enjoyable on foot.
Prime Bar
Prime is a cocktail bar on the seafront of Naxos Town, close to Kastro and the Old Town. It is better treated as an evening and nightlife recommendation than as a restaurant, with cocktails, wine, beer and coffee in a central location.
Its position makes it especially convenient after dinner in Chora, because you can continue the evening without changing neighbourhood or arranging transport.
Walk toward the seafront and Old Town and use Prime as an easy stop after dinner or before a later walk through Chora. Driving is unnecessary from Pasas Castle.
Swing Cocktail Bar
Swing sits on the seafront beside the entrance to the Old Market and is known for creative cocktails and molecular mixology. Its two terraces offer different views, with one facing the sea and the other looking toward the Old Castle of Naxos.
It works particularly well around sunset for a slower drink with a view, while later in the evening the atmosphere becomes livelier and continues into the night.
Walk toward the seafront and the entrance to the Old Market. Swing pairs naturally with dinner in the Old Town or a sunset walk around the harbour and Portara.
Like Home Bar
Like Home is one of the closest evening options to Pasas Castle and combines coffee, cocktails and food with a terrace overlooking the waterfront, Portara and the Old Town. It works especially well when you want a drink and a view without planning transport.
The atmosphere becomes livelier later in the evening, so guests who prefer a quieter visit may enjoy it more around sunset or in the earlier part of the night.
Walk toward the waterfront and Old Town. Because it is so close, there is no reason to drive; the surrounding streets are much easier to explore on foot.
Doukato
Doukato is a convenient dinner choice in Chora with a garden setting and a menu centred on Greek and Mediterranean food. Its location makes it particularly useful on an evening when you want a proper sit-down meal while remaining close to the accommodation.
It is generally more suitable for dinner than for a quick daytime stop, and a reservation can be sensible during the busiest summer weeks.
Walk toward the centre of Chora. The restaurant is close enough to reach comfortably on foot even after a long beach day.
Typografio
Typografio sits at the entrance of the historic Old Market in a restored building that once housed a printing press. Its terraces and courtyards look toward the narrow streets and the Castle, while the kitchen combines Naxian ingredients with traditional Greek and Mediterranean ideas.
This is a good choice when the setting matters as much as the meal, particularly for a slower evening in the Old Town.
Walk toward the Old Market and Kastro. The restaurant is positioned where several old-town lanes meet, so combine dinner with an evening walk through the Castle area.
Taverna Naxos
Taverna Naxos is a central Greek restaurant that works well when you want a straightforward meal without turning dinner into a long excursion. Its position near the waterfront makes it easy to combine with a walk through Chora.
The menu covers familiar Greek choices and the venue is suitable for couples, families and groups who want a convenient option close to the centre.
Walk toward Protopapadaki and the seafront. Parking is unnecessary from Pasas Castle and can be inconvenient in the centre during high season.
Waffle House
Waffle House is a long-established sweet stop in Naxos Town for waffles and ice cream. It is an easy choice after dinner or during an evening walk, especially for families or anyone who wants dessert rather than another full meal.
There is also a Plaka location, but the Chora branch is the practical one for guests staying at Pasas Castle.
Walk toward the centre and waterfront. It fits naturally into an evening route through Chora, so there is no need to plan a separate trip.
Sarris Tavern
Sarris Tavern is one of the most established seafood choices in Naxos Town, with fish, Mediterranean dishes and a traditional taverna character. Its central location makes it particularly attractive when you want seafood without travelling to another beach or village.
Dinner reservations are worth considering during busy periods, especially if you have a preferred time.
Walk through central Chora toward the restaurant. As with most central choices, leave the car parked and enjoy the old-town streets before or after the meal.
Scirocco
Scirocco has operated in Protodikeiou Square since 1995 and is built around family recipes, Greek cooking and Naxian ingredients. Local cheeses, vegetables, olive oil and Greek wine play an important role in the restaurant’s identity.
Its location in one of Chora’s central squares makes it a good all-round dinner choice and an easy place to combine with an evening walk.
Walk inland toward Protodikeiou Square. The square is central and pedestrian-friendly, so walking from Pasas Castle is simpler than driving.
Melimilon
Melimilon is one of the most useful daytime recommendations for guests who want breakfast or brunch rather than a full restaurant meal. Coffee, breakfast plates and local flavours make it an easy way to begin the day before the beach or an excursion.
Its connection with locally made products and preserves gives the experience more Naxian character than a generic breakfast stop.
Walk through central Chora toward the Melimilon area. If you plan a long road trip, this is also a practical place to eat before collecting the car.
Nissaki Restaurant
Nissaki sits directly beside Agios Georgios beach and focuses on Mediterranean food, fresh fish and seafood in a waterfront setting. It is especially suited to a long lunch or a more romantic dinner close to the sea.
Because Agios Georgios is already part of the immediate Pasas Castle neighbourhood, this gives guests a seaside dining experience without committing to a taxi or a drive to the resort beaches farther south.
Walk toward Agios Georgios and follow the beachfront. The route is flat and straightforward, while driving offers little advantage from Pasas Castle.
To Elliniko
To Elliniko centres its menu on traditional Greek food, local products and freshly prepared dishes, with a garden that gives the restaurant a more relaxed character than the busier waterfront strip.
It is a strong option for guests who want familiar Greek cooking and a sit-down meal away from the most crowded seafront tables.
Walk inland through Chora toward Paparrigopoulou. It is still close enough to reach on foot, while the return walk is easy after dinner.
Axiotissa
Axiotissa is on the road toward Kastraki and has built its identity around traditional recipes and fresh ingredients, many of them local. It is the sort of restaurant that makes most sense as part of a wider day in southwest Naxos rather than as a quick meal from Chora.
Combine it with Kastraki, Alyko or another southern beach and allow enough time for the drive back.
Drive south from Chora toward Kastraki. If you are already visiting the southwest beaches, arrange the meal around that route rather than making a separate return journey.
Rotonda
Rotonda lies on the mountain road between Filoti and Apeiranthos and is as much about the view as the food. It opens from earlier in the day for coffee and sweets and continues with food, drinks and cocktails, while its elevated position creates a broad outlook across the Aegean.
It fits particularly well into a mountain-village excursion and can become the final stop of the day if you want to watch the light change before returning to Chora.
Combine Rotonda with Filoti and Apeiranthos. The mountain road is winding, so if you stay for sunset allow a calm return and avoid rushing after dark.
Breakfast, beach, dinner and one last drink — all without the car
You can build an entire day around the Pasas Castle neighbourhood. Begin with breakfast or coffee in town, spend the middle of the day at Agios Georgios, return to rest, then walk out again for dinner and finish with dessert or a rooftop drink.
Open an example walking routeCoffee and breakfast before the heat builds.
Agios Georgios is close enough to come and go freely.
Choose Greek food, seafood or an Old Town setting according to your mood.
Walk for ice cream, dessert or a drink rather than taking the car.
Three useful dining notes
Check seasonal hours
Naxos changes rhythm through the season and some venues adjust opening days or hours. Check the same day rather than relying on an old timetable.
Walk in Chora
For the central restaurants in this guide, walking from Pasas Castle is normally easier than driving because parking can be limited and the distances are short.
Reserve the special meals
For a specific dinner time, a waterfront table, a sunset stop or a popular August evening, a reservation removes unnecessary uncertainty.
